Kooky Canuck Restaurant Review: To win Kooky Canuck’s Kookamonga Challenge, a diner must polish off a seven-pound burger in an hour. Most who attempt the challenge wind up in the casual diner’s Hall of Shame. More reasonable portions of the signature burger may be more appealing, along with the deep-fried Cornish hen with Cajun butter, bratwurst corn dogs, and flank steak with blue cheese mashed potatoes. Poutine (fries topped with gravy and cheese curds) ties in with the Canadian theme. Log cabin walls and mounted stuffed animal heads imbue the place with a ski lodge ambience. If vegetarians can ignore the taxidermy, they’ll enjoy the double-decker veggie burger. For dessert, deep-dish cookies or fruit cobblers served in small skillets and topped with ice cream will satisfy any sweet tooth. If you’re feeding a crowd (or a really hungry person), the Avalanche offers 18 scoops of ice cream piled high with toppings. The wine list is small, but Kooky Canuck offers a selection of Canadian beers and other premium domestics, as well as signature cocktails. |
