Koutoubia Restaurant Review:
You're lounging on a soft-cushioned seat arranged around a circular brass table. To prepare you for your first course, the waiter pours warm water over your hands (you'll be eating with them). Fabric drapes the walls to simulate a Moroccan tent, creating a sense of mystery. When chef-owner Michel Ohayon’s kitchen is on-target, the best dishes are the b'stilla, a light, flaky pie filled with chicken, egg and almonds that’s dusted with powdered sugar; spicy Merguez sausage with couscous and harissa; roast chicken with preserved lemons and olives; and a lamb shank tagine with root vegetables and saffron sauce. A full bar features signature cocktails made with fresh pomegranate juice, fresh mint and lime.
