THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Krieger's Restaurant Review: Krieger's, once your average sports bar, has changed with the baby boomers. and their progeny. Oh, there still are photos of professional athletes and programs from local tournaments, with lots of beer and television sets everywhere. But now there are high chairs and kids' plates and helium balloons, and french fries served in Frisbees. Saturday lunch feels like Romper Room. It's not unpleasant, mind you---the kids don't trip the waitstaff and they're not as noisy as post-adolescents chugalugging on Friday night. Unfortunately, larger crowds and age have lessened the quality of food. The wings alone survive from the better days, not greasy, and available with a five-alarm sauce that's practically tap-dancing in the bowl. Three-alarm is available for weaker types or those who play golf. But chili is beef-and-bean soup, almost sweet. Hamburgers are dry and served on a bun cold to the touch. French fries are sprinkled with what tastes like Adolph's seasoned salt and a little sugar, not really a good example for the next generation.
