THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kula Sushi Bistro Restaurant Review:

After Lunaria and Aphrodisiac, we now welcome Kula, which calls itself a sushi bistro, to this space near the corner of Beverly Glen and Santa Monica Boulevard. Because of its elegant décor, with bleached bamboo floors, white banquettes, comfortable black chairs, Japanese paintings, and stylish column light fixtures in the main dining room, we would rather call it a restaurant. The Japanese owners operate almost two hundred restaurants in the Land of the Rising Sun. They want to make this Century City location the flagship of their American venture. There’s an emphasis on sushi with rolls, hand rolls, sushi nigiri and sashimi that you will dip in Kula's own tasty soy sauce. While nothing is especially innovative, it is all appealing and very reasonably priced, from the spicy tuna or yellowtail to scallops or salmon. To add to your meal, you will find "small bites" such as soy-braised Kurobuta pork, fried calamari, Chilean sea bass in soy broth, miso soup (of course), delicious udon noodles and some salads. The short list of desserts includes a good light soy milk pudding. The bar, in its own room, assuring peace for diners, is still there, with an almost endless array of drink possibilities: saké, soju, signature cocktails, beers and wines.
