THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED KumaSushi Restaurant Review:
One of the more attractive sushi joints in the area, KumaSushi features a fountain at the entrance, a sushi bar that’s a sleek study in modernism, gilded Buddhas and linen-clad tables. Some of the plating is equally artistic, and the menu is extensive. The traditional sushi is very good, and a wide array of specialty rolls, carpaccios and other innovations await. Deep-fried spicy tuna dumplings, a riff on pot stickers, result in slightly overcooked tuna, but a Japanese take on a burrito---spicy tuna, crab, asparagus and crunchy tempura crumbs wrapped in soy paper---is whimsical and tasty, served with a chili-spiked mayo. Spicy tuna on crispy rice cakes, a variation of a dish found everywhere, is given added heat with both a slice of jalapeño and tiny dollop of sriracha. Other specialties include seared ahi with mustard-yuzu sauce and lamb chops with spicy mango sauce. Happy hour offers saké, beer and great prices on many small plates. Desserts include flourless chocolate cake and fish-shaped vanilla ice cream.
