La Baguette Bistro Restaurant Review: With early roots as a bakery, La Baguette greets customers with the aroma of fresh bread and an array of muffins, cookies, tarts and cakes that line the cases. The carrot cake and chocolate mousse cake are legendary. Beyond the bakery and other retail offerings, the bistro invigorates diners with vibrant colors, cozy seating and a bustling bar. Appetizers range from a simply assembled imported cheese plate to a terrine of duck foie gras with Black Mission fig preserves. Sandwiches and burgers are popular during the lunch rush. For dinner, try the Cabernet-glazed half rack of roasted lamb, crusted with Dijon mustard, garlic and herbs. One of our favorite dishes is the chicken and crab Normandy, haloed with a sauce of mushrooms and cream. Steaks come from the bakery's own butcher shop, so you can pick up your favorite cut and prepare it at home. Keep your eye out for inexpensive bargains on the mostly French wine list.
