Subway tile, wine bottles and antique mirrors lend this buzzing spot an Italian brasserie feel, where the top choice is the first-rate thin-crusted pizza. But if you look past the pies---perhaps with the exception of the quattro stagioni covered in wild mushrooms, artichokes, prosciutto di Parma and basil---the wood-burning oven turns out other striking treats, too, like the pollo al mattone (chicken roasted under a brick) with cipollini onions and roasted potatoes and the New York strip steak with sautéed spinach. Pastas are a good choice as well; for a healthy one, try the whole-wheat penne with chickpeas, artichoke, red wine and Parmesan. The dishes’ simplicity proves that pure flavors don't have to shout to be heard; if only diners in the cacophonous space shared the same philosophy.
