Stunning Lamotte murals fill La Côte Basque’s space; the sunny, Mediterranean-style images of the lush land and seascapes set a refined and festive tone. So does the pampering old-guard service. The kitchen turns out fare that tends towards lighter versions of the French classics, all beautifully presented and served. On the prix-fixe dinner menu, choose among such appetizers as goat cheese with artichoke hearts, snails in casserole or a silken timbale of lobster, then move on to simply grilled red snapper, rack of lamb with fresh herbs or the signature cassoulet. The wine list is big, French and pricey.
