La Cucina Ristorante Italiano Restaurant Review: Longtime Mediterraneo chef Don Truong has branched out on his own, taking his rustic style of Italian home cooking to La Cucina. The place is small, so reservations are required, and Truong is the only one in the kitchen, so service can get slow. However, depending on what you order, the food is worth the wait. All pastas are made fresh daily in house, as is the uncased Italian sausage. Mushroom bruschetta and black lobster ravioli in saffron sauce are menu favorites. For entrées, we suggest the osso buco and lamb, although veal and salmon are available, too. We also recommend dining at an early seating to ensure you get a taste of Truong’s crème brûlée cheesecake --- with a light, sugary top crust --- and tiramisu. He makes both desserts at the restaurant and always sells out. The wine list isn't much, but it's adequate. |
