THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Cuisine Restaurant Review:
HURRICANE KATRINA: this establishment is currently closed. For a New Orleans Travel Update as well as resources, information and help click here. Few restaurants are as custom-fitted to their neighborhoods as La Cuisine is to the Lakeview section of New Orleans. It's a no-nonsense, middle-of-the-Rd. establishment that provides comfortable, homey surroundings and just-as-comfortable pricing for the denizens of the 1950s brick bungalows that surround it. Service is pleasantly informal, and neither the chef nor the decorator could be accused of defying convention. There are adequately prepared versions of oysters Rockefeller and Bienville (in a cream sauce), a passably flavorful shrimp remoulade and a familiar roster of steak and fish preparations. Sautéed jumbo shrimp are brushed with garlicky butter, and fried catfish are topped with crab and shrimp in a nicely spiced cream sauce.
