Owner Marcia Sindel and her daughter have been baking custom cakes at this small corner outpost for many years. Their foray into dining happened gradually, but now chef Ramon Cuffie is almost as much of a fixture at La Dolce Via as the bakers. The typical lunch or dinner menu is fairly brief, and it changes daily depending on what’s fresh. Mind you, what it lacks in breadth it makes up for in quality. So, frequent customers know that dinner reservations are a very good idea, especially when the occasional wine-pairing dinners occur. In the mornings, juices are fresh-squeezed and the coffee is topnotch. Weekend brunch is especially appealing, with blueberry pancakes and a unique version of biscuits and gravy: cheese scones topped with lamb gravy. As for desserts, it’s impossible to go wrong with a slice of cake (or even a whole one, if they happen to have one set aside).
