La Ferme Restaurant Review: A 1904 guest house in Genoa, a small town about 20 miles from South Lake Tahoe, is the home of La Ferme. Chef Yves Gigot offers a seasonally changing menu of French country cuisine. A meal might start with country-style pâté with homemade pickled cucumber and radish; jumbo lump blue crab cakes with organic tomato coulis; or roasted quail salad with wild mushrooms and a sunnyside quail egg. Main dishes range from wild petrale sole meunière with pommes dauphine to Maple Leaf duck two ways with apple confit and honey jus. Ice cream and other desserts are prepared in-house. Before or after dinner, guests can take a stroll in the garden or browse the arts and crafts in the Gilles Menagerie Boutique.
