Fillmore is a quiet old railroad town populated with historic buildings. Tucked in among a 1910-built grocery store and the post office sits La Fondita Restaurant & Bakery. The unassuming storefront with spare décor serves fresh and authentic Mexican food like tilapia with garlic sauce, shredded beef chimichanga, menudo, tamales, carne asada, enchiladas, tamales and Latin pastries and breads. Chips and salsa with various heat preferences start your meal. Fresh-squeezed juices and traditional favorites like horchata are made on-site. And don’t overlook breakfast.
