THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS La Fonte Pizzeria Italiana Restaurant Review:
La Fonte’s Tuscan-style food works well in Ojai, where the Mediterranean climate and sun-kissed hills are reminiscent of central Italy. Cracker-thin crust pizzas are loaded with fresh toppings yet light on sauce. Forget pepperoni; think delicate slices of Tuscan pork roast. The pizza Emiliana is piled high with peppery arugula and shaved Grana Padano. Beneath that, bubbly mozzarella contains the salty richness of prosciutto. (A layer of tomato sauce is barely perceptible.) Notable among the salads is the Calitalia: a whole head of butter lettuce stuffed with roasted chicken, avocado and tomatoes, then topped with shredded Asiago and Caesar dressing. Proprietors Stefano and Tammi Bernardi co-own another Italian eatery in Ojai, and two nearby in Montecito. This is the most casual of the trio, with a shady patio looking onto Ojai’s Arcade Plaza and a spacious interior that opens to the main street. Instead of tiramisu or panna cotta, both of which are well made here yet commonplace, try the vinodolce e biscotti---a white dessert wine served with almond cookies for dipping; if you prefer red, they offer the same combo with port.
