La Gondola Restaurant Review: This classic Italian spot has earned its longtime following, and we can see why. Casually elegant, the small restaurant carries pleasantries over to its food --- and you can't beat the prices. We rarely dine here without ordering the mussels in spicy tomato sauce. Needless to say, there’s a whole range of pasta dishes (check the pillowy gnocchi) and good veal Monte Carlo with mushrooms, artichokes and eggplant as well. On another note, you’ll find grilled-chicken risotto and lobster ravioli. It’s also a good place to take the kids since the pizza is first-rate. A second location is at 1258 W. Belmont Ave., 773-935-9011.
