This casual West Village spot is an outpost of a popular taqueria in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The emphasis is on Los Angeles-style Mexican fare, which means there are brick-size burritos stuffed with steak, chicken, pork and tilapia. One unique feature of the place is that diners can also opt for sweet plantains to accompany the Spanish yellow rice, Monterey jack cheese and salsa (note: order the picante salsa at your own risk --- it lives up to its name). Quesadillas, tacos and nachos all come with the same ingredients, so it’s a matter of deciding what form you want your food for the day. Wash it all down with a Mexican Coke and say “gracias” that good, casual Mexican fare can be found in the neighborhood.
