La Panga Antigua Restaurant & Bar is one of our 2012
Hot 10 Los Cabos MX Restaurants|
| Los Cabos is famed for its seafood dining al fresco and La Panga Antigua offers the experience on three romantic terraces, decorated with antiques, art and an ancient panga (a humble wooden boat that Mexican fishermen have used for bringing in their catch since before the beginning of the Aztec calendar). It all takes place amidst colonial-building walls, fountains and tropical foliage in the heart of San Jose’s Historic Arts District. Appetizers feature seafood delicacies such as calamari rings with chipotle mayonnaise, and scallop carpaccio with a spicy citrus juice. Go beyond traditional Mexican cuisine with entrées like the crispy salmon touched with tamarind sauce or rack of lamb infused with mild chili. A locally caught sea bass, drizzled with basil oil and served on a bed of spinach and mashed potatoes, may turn up as the catch-of-the-day. Be careful not to load up on the complimentary homemade focaccia, as you’ll want to save room for Mexican desserts such as a chocolate tamale wrapped in a corn husk and served with tequila caramel. A mixologist creates margarita masterpieces with seasonal fruits, while oenophiles will appreciate the extensive wine list. |
