| An Inland Empire edition of a Long Beach favorite, this shopping- and theater-convenient osteria is decked out with colorful memorabilia from the worlds of Italian sports to sports cars. Begin with a carpaccio topped with celery, lemon, shaved Parmesan and black truffles, or focaccia from the wood-burning oven served with a heap of prosciutto, arugula and Grano Padano cheese. Pastas are reliable, from gnocchi with asparagus in a creamy saffron sauce to rigatoni enhanced with pork and beef meatballs and a light spicy tomato sauce. A wide variety of tasty thin-crusted pizzas come out of the aforementioned oven, like the ciociara, topped with mozzarella, Gorgonzola, porcini mushrooms and spinach. The roster of main courses is skimpy, but includes an enticing 12-ounce New York steak in a Chianti reduction. The wine list is small, but contains intriguing Italian grape varietals in the by-the-glass selection. The original location is at 2945 E. Broadway, Long Beach, 562-438-1235. |
