After undergoing a major renovation---blue walls are just the tip of the iceberg---La Tache remains a cozy, romantic dining destination. This is classic bistro fare from top to bottom, but it’s done right---from the correctly prepared steak frites and crackly skinned roast chicken to the Lyonnaise salad and punchy French onion soup. Grilled salmon may make good bedfellows with saffron-leek nage, while steak frites kicks it with decadent blue cheese sauce. When it’s available, look for the tarte au citron for dessert, or the even better pear belle Hélène. Reasonable prices understandably make this a go-to-for-a-good-time joint.
