: When Anat Escher’s Silver Lake spot Barbarella Bar proved to be a little too cavernous, she simply put up an artistic chalk mural wall and made half of it a neighborhood pizzeria. The airy space has rock ‘n’ roll style, with sexy red banquettes and chandeliers, equally suitable for a date, drinks with friends, or family dinner with kids. Kids are indeed very warmly welcomed. The artisan pizza includes well-crafted Neapolitan pies with a flavorful chewy crust. It’s hard to beat the simple margherita, with fresh Gioia mozzarella. We also are fond of the duck sausage pie dotted with Gouda, mushrooms and scallions. Vegetarians can try the many specialties, ranging from braised fennel and artichokes to roasted mushrooms, burrata, truffle oil and chives. There are pleasant salads and pastas, but don’t miss the dish of charred carrots with burrata, toasted almonds, brown butter honey, toasted fennel and mint. A nice finish is smooth butterscotch budino. Specialty cocktails are $8, including a house-made sangría that’s marinated for 32 hours, and 24 craft beers are on tap. Another bonus: happy hour runs from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. daily.
