THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED L'Amie Donia Restaurant Review:
Chef-owner Donia Bijan won early acclaim at San Franciscos Sherman House and Brasserie Savoy before transforming a former luncheonette into her eponymous Peninsula restaurant. We love her French bistro specialties, such as the earthy classic onion soup and the salad of gathered greens dressed with a simple wine-friendly lemonette and enlivened with Roquefort croutons. A lemon sole poached in Chablis is superbly paired in a salad with wedges of pink grapefruit, blood oranges and fennel. Some entrées, such as a pan-roasted Alaska halibut with crab-and-potato griddle cakes, lean toward California cuisine, while a New York steak with a mushroom bordelaise sauce comes with pommes frites. As for dessert, the tarte Tatin and Sachertorte-are standouts.
