The name refers to the authenticity of this Chinese restaurant --- a loose translation is “traditional from Sichuan,” which is the homeland of chef Tony Hu. Décor exudes elegance with high ceilings and majestic pillars joined by floral curtains, oversize lamps, chandeliers and jade-like tabletops. Those who appreciate the spicy flair for which Szechuan cuisine is known will not be disappointed in the signature chef’s special dry chili chicken comprising crisp pieces of chicken set amid red chili peppers; or mapo tofu with its creamy chunks of tofu soaking in a spicy broth. Those who prefer the spices toned down will be pleased with the garlic cucumber, a simple mix of cucumber in a sauce full of garlic; or shrimp with lemon sauce fried to just the right amount of crispness and covered in a coating that is sweet without being cloying. An assortment of Asian beers hailing from Laos, Japan, China and Singapore complement the fare. Dishes are served family-style and are quite shareable, making this an ideal choice for dining in a group or sharing with a partner.
