Las Brisas Restaurant Review: Housed in a historic building that sits on a picturesque cliff overlooking the crescent-shaped cove of Main Beach, Las Brisas is a true Laguna Beach landmark. The menu focuses on Mexican seafood specialties with California flair. Drinks are strong and made with freshly squeezed juices and premium liquors. Start dinner with sea bass ceviche, fried calamari roasted in garlic beurre blanc, or a seafood cocktail with lobster medallions, crab claws and tequila cocktail sauce. You’ll find tacos, tamales and enchilada combo platters, but your best bets are the fresh seafood dishes. Try the snapper Veracruzana, a lightly breaded red snapper filet filled with shrimp in a spicy tomato, caper and cilantro wine sauce. Some pass up the restaurant interior altogether for the sunny outdoor patio, which presents its own lighter menu and strong margaritas. If you’re an early riser, don’t miss the breakfast buffet. A four-course Sunday brunch is affordable and includes free-flowing Champagne. While you can choose to end a meal with a berry and vanilla ice cream tostada or a coconut flan, you should always complete the experience with a stop to smell the roses in the adjacent garden, and then climb the small hill to a cliff-side gazebo with scenic shoreline views.
