The first Las Vegas location of Carlos’n Charlie’s has opened at the Flamingo Las Vegas. The dining room seats 150, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the pool and gardens seats an additional 150. The concept was created by Grupo Anderson, the team behind Mexico’s Señor Frog’s, known for loud music and a party-like atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of Mexican favorites, including an interactive guacamole cart from which guests can create their own tableside guac, as well as American fare like burgers and chicken wings. Signature cocktails include the Paloma, a tequila-based libation with grapefruit soda. Hours are 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily. Kabuki Japanese Restaurant has opened its second Las Vegas location at Tivoli Village. The restaurant is serving sushi, sashimi, rolls and specialties including miso-marinated black cod and Mediterranean sea bass. An extensive menu of Japanese inspired desserts is offered, as well as a kids menu for diners 10 and under. The beverage program is overseen by Yuji Matsumoto, currently one of two Master Samurai Sake Sommeliers in North America. Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, Tivoli Village, 400 S. Slice of Vegas has opened at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place Slice of Vegas has opened at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place serving NY style pizza with a thin, chewy crust, along with calzones, fresh pastas and salads. Pizza choices include mushroom ragu pizza, four cheese and truffle pizza, and prosciutto and pesto pizza. Gluten-free dough is available, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. Lakeside Extends Popular Oyster Happy Hour
Lakeside at Wynn Las Vegas has extended its oyster happy hour indefinitely. Taking place daily from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., a selection of fresh Hama Hama, Shibumi, St. Simone or Rappahannock oysters are offered for $1.50 each, and are served at Lakeside’s bar or in the restaurant’s lounge. Chef Wolfgang Puck Wolfgang Puck Launches iPhone App
Chef Wolfgang Puck (Spago, CUT, etc.) has launched an app for iPhone and iPod touch that's available for free from the App Store. The Wolfgang Puck - Live Love Eat! app features new recipes, cooking and technique video demonstrations, one-touch calling for restaurant reservations and more. The MGM Grand Offering Daily Champagne Brunch
The MGM Grand Hotel & Casino is now offering a champagne brunch seven days a week at its MGM Grand Buffet until 4 p.m. daily. The breakfast buffet includes a live omelet station along with traditional favorites, and the lunch buffet features a carving station and build-your-own taco and fajita stations. Wolfgang Puck Offering Deals for Las Vegas Locals
Wolfgang Puck’s six Las Vegas Strip restaurants have instituted a “Compliments of the Chef” program, allowing locals with a Nevada ID to receive priority reservations, preferred seating and one complimentary dessert per couple. The six participating restaurants are Spago, CUT, Postrio, Trattoria del Lupo, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill and Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina.
Tender Steak & Seafood Unveils Wine & Cheese Pairing Menu
Tender Steak & Seafood at the Luxor Hotel & Casino is offering a new wine and cheese menu. White or red wine tastings by the glass are priced at two glasses for $8 or four glasses for $15. White wine options include Chateau St. Michelle Eroica Riesling 2008, Ravenswood Chardonnay 2006, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2010, William Hill Chardonnay 2008 and Cakebread Chardonnay 2008. Red wine selections are Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir 2008, Ferrari-Carano Merlot 2006, Beaujolais Georges Duboeuf 2008, Apothic Blend 2009 and Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006. An American artisan cheese tasting menu offers a selection of two cheese items priced at $8 or four cheese items priced at $15, and include a Bandich Cheddar, Grafton Village Cheddar, Purple Moon Cheddar, Mouco Colorouge, Pleasant Ridge Reserve Gruyere, Marieka Gouda, Mine Shafts Blue, San Andreas Sheep, Bermuda Triangle Goat and Truffle Tremor Goat. Wynn Las Vegas/Encore Las Vegas has announced that Pradeep Raman has joined the company as senior vice president of fine dining. Raman will oversee all aspects of food and beverage operations at Wynn/Encore restaurants, including Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare, Botero, Lakeside, Sinatra, SW Steakhouse, Switch, Tableau and Wing Lei. Raman has worked for luxury brands in New York City, Istanbul, Half Moon Bay, Kuala Lumpur, Chicago and Hong Kong, and most recently worked as general manager of The Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills.
