Sophie Gayot and Giada De Laurentiis Chef, author and television personality Giada De Laurentiis will open her very first restaurant, Giada, in early 2014 when the new yet-to-be named resort (the former Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall) opens at the corner of Flamingo Rd. and the Strip. The venue will be located on the second level above the casino floor with views of the Vegas Strip and al fresco dining. The restaurant space will extend over the pedestrian walkway below, featuring large glass windows affording natural lighting, and will be outfitted with living room-style furniture. Private dining room space will be available for larger parties or group functions. The menu will feature De Laurentiis’ cuisine embracing her birthplace of Rome, with Californian influences, and include traditional family recipes and her signature dishes as seen on her Food Network television shows and in her cookbooks. An open kitchen will give guests the opportunity to watch the chefs in action. The 300-seat restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner daily. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is planning to add to its lounge and club scene with the 23,354-square-foot Rose.Rabbit.Lie. Celebrity chef Tom Colicchio has opened his second restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip, Tom Colicchio's Heritage Steak. Located at The Mirage in the space of the former Kokomo's restaurant, the 220-seat venue focuses on meats prepared entirely over an open flame, including wood-burning ovens and charcoal grills. The menu features cuts of antibiotic-free meats raised by purveyors committed to time-honored farming practices and heritage breeds. The Bentel+Bentel design highlights natural materials. Embers Grille + Spirits Offering 50 Percent off Bill September 11 & 12
Embers Grille + Spirits at Boca Park in Summerlin will celebrate its two-year anniversary with a special two-day “half off everything” party. Offered September 11 & 12, the special pricing will apply to the whole menu and the discount will be applied to the entire bill. Embers is open daily for dinner and brunch on Sundays. Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare and Wing Lei to Undergo Renovations
Wing Lei Chinese restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas will temporarily close October 8 to undergo a complete renovation of the restaurant’s interiors. Also closing for refurbishment is Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare, which will close November 3. Both restaurants plan to reopen December 21. Wynn Las Vegas Debuts Dinner and Le Reve Show Package
Wynn Las Vegas is offering a dinner and show package pairing its Allegro Italian restaurant with Le Reve-The Dream. A premium ticket accompanied by a three-course prix-fixe meal with wine pairings is available before or after the show and begins at $185 per person. Among courses are a choice of bruschetta, Caesar salad, eggplant parmigiana or house-made meatballs; an entree selection of baked lasagna, chicken parmigiana, mushroom-crusted salmon or veal marsala; and dessert of fresh baked biscotti. Fleming’s Offering Three-course Prime Rib Special
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is offering a three-course prime rib special for $29.95 through September 2. Available on Sundays and Mondays, the courses include a choice of new wedge, Fleming’s salad or modern Caesar salad; Prime rib with au jus, horseradish and Dijon sauces and choice of side; and a choice of dessert. Chen Wei Chan has been named executive chef of the pan-Asian bistro Wazuzu at Encore. Chan previously worked in New York City as part of the opening team of Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar and oversaw the daily kitchen operation at The Carlyle on Madison Avenue. Chen also held chef de cuisine positions at Rosewood Little Dix Bay’s Sugar Mill restaurant in Virgin Gorda and The BodyHoliday’s Tao restaurant in St. Lucia. Celebrity chef/"Top Chef: Seattle" alum Carla Pellegrino has left Meatball Spot, the casual eatery in Town Square. Pellegrino reports that she left on good terms after completing her contract and said, “I want to focus on my Bratalian Neapolitan Cantina and new endeavors that fit more my passion and vision of Italian food.” Also, pop star Britney Spears will have partial ownership of Meatball Spot and plans are to move it to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino next to the theater where she will be performing.
