Crystals at CityCenter PURE Management Group (PURE nightclub at Caesars Palace, LAX nightclub at Luxor Hotel & Casino, etc.) will re-launch its Pan Asian restaurant, Social House, in Crystals at CityCenter. (The original was located at Treasure Island and closed in July 2009.) The new Social House will open in early summer 2010 on the second floor of Crystals with an enclosed dining area as well as an open terrace overlooking the shopping areas. Social House executive chef Joe Elevado, who studied under Nobu Matsuhisa and Masaharu Morimoto, will create a menu of Japanese/Southeast Asian cuisine and sushi, with influences from his travels to places like Indonesia. Chef Alain Ducasse's miX on the beach has opened at the new W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island. This is Ducasse's first restaurant in the Caribbean. The contemporary menu draws on the local and regional ingredients of Vieques Island with dishes such as the spicy crab salad appetizer and farm-raised pork en cocotte with creamy grits that utilizes locally sourced pork. Executive chef Dagan Lynn, formerly with Alain Ducasse at the Essex House in New York, collaborated on the menu with Ducasse (Mix IN LAS VEGAS). Breakfast and dinner are offered at miX on the beach. Easter-themed Chocolate Creations at JP P√Ętisserie
Jean-Philippe Maury of JP Pâtisserie in ARIA Resort & Casino has created special Easter-themed creations for guests to enjoy through April 4. These whimsical specialties include a Chocolate Biker Rabbit and Chocolate Basketball Bunny with a white chocolate ball, as well as a chocolate Easter chicken, elephant, monkey and even a hippopotamus. Chef Charlie Trotter's Restaurant Charlie at The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino has closed. This was the second Las Vegas venture for Trotter, who had previously opened---and shortly thereafter closed---an eponymous restaurant in the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in the mid 1990s. Trotter will continue to operate his fine dining establishment Charlie Trotter's in Chicago.
