Laurel Restaurant Review

: This tiny, 22-seat storefront BYOB is booked out months in advance by foodies wanting to sample the inspired cooking of Nicholas Elmi, a "Top Chef" winner whose résumé also includes stints at the now-defunct Le Bec-Fin and Rittenhouse Tavern. With Elmi behind the stove most nights, Laurel offers an à la carte menu Tuesdays through Thursdays, but really pulls out the stops on weekends when the only option is a $75, seven-course tasting menu. The latter might start with marinated smoked trout roe with shiso and green tomato, include Elmi's roasted Peking duck with blueberry miso and foie gras creamed corn, and finish with caramelized white chocolate pudding.
