 Lautrec Restaurant Review: Lautrec’s dining room blends lush décor, vivid artwork, choreographed service and impressive accoutrements --- a custom-designed Champagne cart, a Christofle cheese cart and a mignardise cart. The kitchen devises frequently changing menus driven by quality, mostly local, and seasonal ingredients (former chef de cuisine Kristin Butterworth has departed the stoves). Select one of the prix-fixe menus: the construct-your-own seven courses ($125, paired to wines $260) or a nine-course Chef's Tasting ($225, with wines $360). There are also vegetarian tasting and wellness menus but no à la carte option. Expect luxury standards such as foie gras or Prime strip steak, but contemporary techniques are also embraced --- a sous vide-prepared 60-minute egg, and s'mores with smoked chocolate, marshmallow ice cream and graham cracker "soil." The sommelier has the run of a 22,000-bottle cellar. Prepare for a lengthy and leisurely evening. |
