Located in the oldest existing structure in the city of Albany (circa 1730), Le Canard Enchainé Brasserie offers French standards at reasonable prices. Fricassée of snail with mushroom and Cognac flambé gets you off to a good start. Or, if you want to eat local, try the Hudson Valley foie gras dish of the day. A hearty helping of rack of lamb, coquilles St-Jacques made with jumbo sea scallops or, if the chef is making it that day, the cassoulet, are good choices as entrées. The interior décor is more contemporary than the brick architecture but take note, the restrooms are on the second floor and there’s no handicapped access.
