Le Gastroquet, Paris, france

Le Gastroquet Restaurant Review

: Is there a future for the “cuisine bourgeoise”? There’s no doubt for Julien Logereau, nephew of the retired famous chef Jacques Cagna, who helms this bistro founded twenty years ago. La cuisine bourgeoise is the happy medium between pleasure, health and spending. No opulent cooking here, Le Gastroquet prefers more modest preparations like medallions of duck foie gras in a cider jelly, puff pastry of escargots, and scallops with a leek fondue. Cassoulet is the flagship dish of the house, with the baba au rhum for dessert. The wine list is reasonable. In this informally convivial atmosphere, the sober crockery is set off by the pristine napkins. This is a very commendable oasis in the gastronomical desert around the Exposition Park.
