THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Jardin Bistro Restaurant Review

: This homey spot looks as though it was transported from the French countryside to the streets of New York. Every detail from the lace café curtains to the handwritten menus to the creaky floorboards adds to the illusion. The food only takes you one step further: moist roast chicken, buttery pan-seared skate, hanger steak in green peppercorn sauce or soulful cassoulet all prepared without pretension by chef-owner Gérard Meurice. The crowd lazing over dinner is often made up mostly of young professional design types. We best love this place in fine weather when we can schmooze and graze for hours under grapevines in the restaurant's expansive backyard garden. Atmosphere aside, expect lots of cream and butter and an almost generic wine list.
