This Dupont Circle spot is an amalgam of French cooking, bistro and classic, with an emphasis on more casual dishes. Its awning-covered front patio and wide front windows allow for some of the best people-watching in town. Try the house salade Pigalle, a toss of sautéed potatoes, prosciutto slivers, blue cheese and balsamic dressing, topped with a sunny-side-up egg (the downside to this dish is the meager portion and lack of presentation for the price). We find the saucisson en brioche a bit disappointing; this should be a pastry-wrapped, plump sausage but is only a sliced piece of meat. Opt instead for the duck, or one of the several quiches or tarts, and finish with a chocolate pastry.
