Dining room at Bistro Le Relais, Louisville, KYLocated in the city's original airport terminal, the Art Deco dining room is paneled in faux birds-eye maple. Patrons are encouraged to dress more casually now and also enjoy dining on the deck overlooking Bowman Field's runways. Chef Jamie Kinser’s French bistro menu flips between cool and warm weather dishes. So in summer, you may find vegetables with a garlic mayonnaise or mussels steamed in white wine and shallot broth on the starter menu. In winter, the sauce for the crab cake switches from lemon beurre blanc to an equally rewarding tarragon tartar sauce. Among summer entrées are a veal loin chop with ginger and mustard glaze and trout meunière. The winter menu includes nightly specials such as duck confit and beef bourguignon. In cooler weather, Grand Marnier or chocolate soufflés may be offered, and in summer desserts are based on fresh fruits. The French and American-based wine list contains pairings for all dishes and enough half bottles to allow appropriate accompaniments to a multi-course meal.
