| Some of the regulars---and there are many at this bistro---consider it a living museum. Originally opened in 1937, chef Marin Martin continues the restaurant's tradition of pure culinary nostalgia---Parisian cooking from escargots in garlic butter to cassoulet, coq au vin and rack of lamb. If you like kidneys, tripe and sweetbreads, Le Veau d'Or is a good choice. Sauerkraut as an Alsatian specialty served with ham, sausage or lard is a treat. For dessert, there's chocolate mousse, caramel custard and pancakes with caramel sauce and ice cream. The French and American wines are reasonably priced. |
