This counter diner, which looks a lot like Edward Hopper’s famous “Nighthawks” painting, does mostly two things: chicken and donuts. And the spot does them very well. Hit the drive-thru at 7 a.m. for a box of the caramel-glazed treats topped with praline bacon and you’ll never want anything else for breakfast. The fried chicken is seasoned and topped with sauces such as house-made mustard or barbecue sauce. You can buy the chicken by the bucket or piece, along with sides such as mashed potatoes and collard greens. For the ultimate combo, go for the fried chicken nestled between two glazed donuts.
