Lemongrass Cafe Restaurant Review: The ambience of this Bellaire restaurant is low-key casual, but its Mediterranean-influenced Thai fusion cuisine is serious stuff. We like to start with the moist steamed dumplings, lavishly garnished with slivers of black truffles. Tender chicken paillard encrusted in panko breadcrumbs is ladled with a beautiful beurre blanc. Lunch regulars return for the tuna steak sandwich served on focaccia with homemade mayo, cilantro and jalapeño. You can count on the tuna being fresh and cooked perfectly in peppercorn and garlic seasonings. As for main courses, meaty Mediterranean veal osso buco shares the menu with Asian-style, wood-grilled, hoisin-seasoned rib-eye doused with shiitake-rich Chinese brown sauce. Soups are tasty but a bit thin; beautiful salads, on the other hand, are fresh and subtly layered with sweet, savory and spicy flavors. |
