Leonard's Bakery Restaurant Review

: A twenty-minute walk from Waikiki to this nondescript bakery leads to some of the best malasadas (a Portuguese word to describe a deep-fried sweet dough rolled in sugar) that the Islands have to offer. The original malasadas are lighter than air and covered with sugar; the newer versions are dusted with cinnamon or li hing sugar, or filled with assorted puddings. A rotating flavor of the month might include pineapple, guava or mango. The other specialty is the Portuguese sweet bread that is light, moist and good for french toast or used in a sandwich with curried chicken salad. As you line up to place your order, icebox cookies, brownies and fresh danish will also attempt to vie for your attention.
