| This is a neighborhood gem where regulars tuck into plump deep-fried oysters, jalapeño hush pups, and soulful gumbo and jambalaya. Barbecued ribs and cornmeal-crusted catfish constitute a small part of the classics-filled entrée selection. Traditional Southern sides include collard greens, candied yams, red beans and cornbread. Satisfying desserts range from peach cobbler, bourbon bread pudding and the signature buttermilk pie. The storefront is basically no-frills, but checkerboard vinyl tablecloths, jazz posters and Mardi Gras beads give it a homey feel, and the staff couldn't be more warm and accommodating. |
