THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lexi's Restaurant Review:
Not too much change here from its former incarnation as Madison's. We think the TVs on either side of the bar should go (they worked in a place like Madison's, but not here). Hardwood floors, brick walls, paper over cloth on the tables. Service is very good. Chef Andrew Pratt (formerly in the kitchen of Fahrenheit on Milwaukee Avenue) has a certain culinary style that is very approachable and creative. Flavors abound, but do not bound over the top to the point of being ridiculous. The menu is American bistro, pure and simple, and with a pleasing result. We love the freshwater prawns, seared scallop salad, veal chops and crêpes. The three very large prawns arrive with the shell on, butterflied and glazed with an herbed goat cheese, and paired quite flavorfully with wilted escarole and a tomato coulis. In all, very simple, yet very delicious.
