Lillie's Times Square Restaurant Review: If the interior design of a restaurant contributes to the eating and drinking experience --- and we know that it does to some degree --- then this Victorian-era theme venue in the Theater District is a winner. The high-ceilinged room, with marble pillars and stained-glass, is a thing of beauty, like a cathedral for consuming and imbibing. The ambience is only marred by a couple large-screen TVs. But alas, one also has to consider the food, and that’s where the superlatives end at Lillie’s. The menu is designed for snacking and is filled with sandwiches, nachos and wings. Sliders and burgers arrive overcooked; mac ‘n’ cheese is just plain bland and the roasted chicken is dry. Come here expecting a feast for your eyes --- and enjoy the large beer selection --- but feed yourself elsewhere. |
