THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Lindeman Restaurant Review:
On this bleak stretch of 42nd Street, The Lindeman promises to serve “new American classics,” but there’s nothing much new. Some classics succeed, like succulent lamb meatballs, served with garlicky tomato sauce and a cloud of feta. The Lindeman’s 28-day dry-aged rib-eye arrives with a crispy golden crust, melted bone marrow butter and a sprig of thyme, and it satisfies. But others, like tagliolini pasta with pesto, are greasy and underwhelming. Salads are small, overpriced and uninspired. Luckily, the bar makes lovely cocktails and the wine list is diverse. The front room is pleasant, with a communal table and a handsome bar, but the dining room in back is windowless and dreary.
