THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lipstick Cafe Restaurant Review:

Important businesspeople arriving at the Philip Johnson-designed Lipstick building are undoubtedly tickled to have chef-owner Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s casual lunchtime eatery and takeout shop right in the lobby. (Those desiring a more formal---and expensive---lunch can reserve at Vongerichten’s Vong, also in the building. At Lipstick, even folks en route to work can pick up homemade baked goods like croissants, muffins and brioche. For lunch, the salads stand out (try the seared duck breast with baby greens and tamarind dressing), but also superb are such sandwiches as the spice-rubbed rare roast beef on toasted black bread, served with horseradish mayo. It’s (almost) enough to make going to work a pleasure.
