Local 149 Restaurant Review

: Local 149 boasts a copper ceiling, wood-burning fireplace and hardwood floors reclaimed from a Charlestown church. Named after its support of local farms and paying homage to the firefighter’s union, the restaurant offers a comfort-focused menu (think deviled eggs, Pearl hot dogs, Parmesan tater tots and spiced-up mac ‘n’ cheese fritters). While the wine list is somewhat limited, there are nearly 20 beers on draft. Everything is house-made, including ginger beer and tonic water. Start with a Harpoon dry Irish stout paired with pork belly tacos or cheese steak sliders. Standout dinners include slow-braised pot roast, a London broil "pile up" and the chicken rancho pizza. For dessert, try something different, like the fried fluffernutter or sweet potato maple cheesecake. The only drawback is the cozy tables that are just too small for the enormous plates of food.
