The Local Taco Restaurant Review: The Local Taco does a good job dressing up a street food staple, with locally sourced ingredients and a fun, breezy vibe. Look out for the chalkboard to your right as you walk in; it’ll tell you what’s on special, and sometimes where it grazed or pecked or poked up through the earth. Tacos come à la carte (you’ll want at least two, maybe three), though there’s a lunch special combo. We recommend the carnitas with pico de gallo and the Korean barbecue with seared sesame beef and Asian slaw. There are also enchiladas, salads and a kids’ menu. For dessert, have one of the satisfying margaritas, although you could go for a sopaipilla, flan or, even better, a brownie tamale. Quaffs include a fair beer list offering some of Tennessee’s own Yazoo brew, a few so-so wines, house-made sangría, and a fair sampling of tequilas. |
