THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Locanda Restaurant Review:

Capitol Hill’s Locanda features over-the-top Mediterranean cooking that could make this one of your favorite dining spots. Cozy and intimate, the restaurant’s primary décor stars paintings by local artists, warm colors, and plenty of political and social chatter. But most people head here not for the schmoozing but for the chef’s cooking. Where else in Washington can you find manchego-and-caramelized onion soup? And if you like lusty lamb fare, consider the sizeable Chianti-braised lamb shank, tender and meaty. Other entrées include a grilled rib-eye and braised pork belly. Gnocchi with porcini and maccheroncelli with truffled Fontina are among pasta dishes. Another show-stopper is the panna cotta; this version is spiked with a hint of orange.
