Loco Lizard Cantina Restaurant Review:
Loco Lizard Cantina is not a traditional Mexican restaurant. Entrées and appetizers are creative and feature a lively blend of spices and flavors that surpass your south-of-the-border cravings. Step inside the informal L-shaped dining room, or head out to the secluded patio with its center fountain for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch; or simply stop by to try a homemade raspberry lemonade or margarita after a day playing in the mountains. The best thing about this kid- and wallet-friendly cantina is the bottomless bucket of homemade tortilla chips served with fresh crushed red and green salsas. Small appetites will enjoy the tacos al pescador---mini pork tostadas with grilled pineapple and cilantro---and the wild mushroom quesadilla. The plate of chicken simmered in a rich mole comes loaded with beans, rice, tortillas and a side salad. Those with a Teflon tongue may fire-test the mole amarillo made with fresh chilies, pumpkin seeds and corn masa. Finish off with a brownie with authentic, rich Mexican chocolate, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
