| The great flood of 2010 that swamped Warwick's trendy NYLO hotel also seems to have swept away the mediocrity that often plagued its signature restaurant. Reopened after a long renovation, NYLO looks pretty much the same as ever, but the quality of the Loft menu has improved dramatically. Seated out on the hotel's expansive mahogany deck---its finest attribute by far---one may trade the rather sterile, ultra-lounge feel of the main dining room for a riverside perch. Start, perhaps, with a lobster wonton appetizer: gumball-size pods of diced lobster meat wrapped in lightly fried dough, served with a mild chili sauce. Reasonably priced gourmet pizzas for two are available, or one may encounter osso buco served on a bed of Parmesan risotto, and an entrée of "overnight" braised beef ravioli, slightly al dente and stuffed with a generous portion of tender meat, complemented by a nice mushroom and sherry sauce, and accented with a touch of white truffle oil and topped with shaved Asiago. |
