THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Loring Cafe Restaurant Review:

A contender for Hot Ten if not for problems with service (it's either wonderful or terrible) the Loring is Minneapolis' hipster Mecca. An international crowd, terrific appetizers and eclectic live music make this bar, club and restaurant worth a visit any night of the week. We love to lounge among the antiques and distressed sofas in the great main room and listen to a language club practicing their French or watch a group of local actors try to outdo each other with colorful anecdotes. For the perfect food to go along with the people-watching, the artichoke ramekin is legendary, a creamy, decadent appetizer that can be a meal in itself. In the more subdued dining room, try the soynut-crusted halibut with lobster peanut butter broth on a garlic chili polenta cake topped with water chestnut carrot salsa, or for a less complicated entrée, the sun-dried tomato ravioli or the Cajun beef tenderloin. Whatever you do, don't be intimidated by the crowd or your server: the Loring may be famous for attitude but remember that like bears, hipsters just as afraid of you as you are of them.
