Lorna's Italian Kitchen Restaurant Review: Located in the Vons shopping center of University City, Lorna’s is the type of unpretentious, local eatery for which food-lovers yearn. The menu is replete with home-style salads, pastas and chicken entrées. We like the emphasis on vegetable dishes, and the eggplant appetizer is a standout. Pasta choices are many, as are the types of fluffy-crusted pizzas; the same dough is used to make calzones. You can’t go wrong with the vegetables primavera with fresh broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, mushrooms, peas, red peppers, asparagus and carrots all sautéed in butter and shallots. For a filling dish, try the chicken piccata sautéed in a lemon butter sauce with shallots and capers. Save room for an Italian cannoli to top off your meal. |
