| Given Los Dados' location in the trendy Meatpacking District and the dimly lit atmosphere and chic décor, it would be understandable to mistake this Mexican eatery for a Nuevo Latino restaurant serving elevated versions of Mexican food. Instead, the menu sticks to well-done classics, priced, however, as if they were award-winning dishes. The PEI, tequila-steamed mussels, make for a great starter. The enchiladas with a pumpkin seed sauce (pipian) is a menu standout; the overpriced tacos, though, are not. Burritos, arriving cut in half and bolstered by a quick minute on a grill, are a better bet. The drink list is crammed with a variety of margaritas. For cheaper Mexican standards, hit up the connected two-table Los Dados taqueria around the corner. |
